Research for Music Video: Lip Sync Project Evaluation

Hello!

We used the song 'Show Me Love' by The XX. We decided that Heather would be the artist in our actual music video, so we thought it would be great practice for both her and us if she was the artist in this. It would allow her to improve her acting, and also get used to having to sing out loud in public.

To create our lip sync project, we had to film base tracks. Base tracks are when you record a scene, with the whole song playing. This makes editing much easier. Base tracks also give the video more structure. We filmed over 10 base tracks, along with small recordings of flowers and scenery.

One of my favourite angles and base tracks is of Dan, and it was shot by Lily. I love how the trees and look around him, almost framing him. It also adds to the nature feel of the video.

Myself, Dan and Lily all worked together to edit. We tried to stick to what we had been taught in the lesson. We showed the final edit to Louisa and she gave us some feedback:
  • She really liked the shots of the flowers, and the base tracks.
  • Don't cut in the middle of a lyric as it makes the video seem 'off'.
  • Cut to the beat.
