All done

Hello!

I decided very last minute to make a video rounding up my experience of making this music video. (Sorry for the quality, I'm definitely not used to being in front of a camera and I mumble a lot~)

I really enjoyed this experience. I got to meet new people, and do something very unique and fun. While I did find some parts challenging, the experience I got out of it made it so much better. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog and also watching our video.

Thank you!

Evaluation: Question 4

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Here is a video containing some of the feedback I got from our target audience:

I made this video showing the trip to the cinema screening. It includes people's reactions.
We were shown first, which I feel as though may have let us down, as there were a lot of other great videos shown after and it's hard to remember them all.

Jack: The Amber Adams song was amazing. I'm her biggest fan. I don't think, there's never been a time when I wasn't wishing I was listening to Amber Adams. The video was really good. The shots were really good, amazing, and the editing was very professional.
Seun: It being first was kind of difficult to remember. But I think the video came out really really well. I like the fact that I know Dan was really focusing on making sure the jump cuts were on the beat and that was really really successful. The timing worked really well. Heather's performance also was really good. The video was great to be honest.
Seren: I love the shots, there was a variety of good shots. The locations were really good and the lighting was also very good.

Production of Ancillary work: Inner CD

Hello!

So far this is my inner CD pack. I have used two photos to create the background and the actual CD. I still need to add some text on the CD and possible legal information on the pack.

The photos used were:

Production of Ancillary Work: Final pieces

Hello!

These are my final images for my digipak without any text. I felt that before my images looked quite bland, even with different colouring, so I added some lens flares. I also made sure that in the images she was wearing the same clothes, as I feel like that looks more professional.

I have found the ancillary work much harder than the music video, as I thought it would be easier. It's difficult trying to make the product look professional while also not blending in with everyone else's and not standing out.

Production of Ancillary Work: Photoshop

Hello!

Today I practiced making my digipak. I found it very difficult to get what I wanted in my head, despite it seeming simple. I tried to use the Quick Selection tool and then using the Refine Edge option, but it kept mixing up hair with the trees in the background. I also feel as though the red outline looks quite tacky, which isn't how I wanted it to look.

I then tried a similar photo, but one where her hair may be easier to select. However, I also had difficulty with that. I think I might use a close up photo, as inspired by Taylor Swift, Ella Henderson and Marina and the Diamonds.

Researching Ancillary Products: Importance and Functions of digipaks

Hello!

What is a digipak?
A digipak is the packaging for a CD, so it includes the front cover, the back and the CD design.

Why are they important?

  1. They entice people. They are supposed to attract people and so they buy the CD.
  2. It reflects the artist. A heavy metal band typically wouldn't have a flowery album cover while a pop singer also wouldn't have a dark album cover covered in dark images.
  3. It should tell you the genre and style of the music, based off of the design.
  4. Fans like to own actual hard copies of their favourite artist's CDs.

Production of Music Video: Progress Review

Hello!

In general, I have much preferred blogging this year in comparison to last year. I feel as though it is easier and clearer, which allows me to have more of an understanding of what to do. Last year I felt quite confused surrounding the whole thing, but now I feel as though I have it all sorted out. Because of this, I have definitely blogged more. And I enjoyed the blogging. Last year, I only enjoyed the practical elements, but now I feel as though I genuinely understand the work and I can put it into writing.

A photo posted by Group 6 (@group6media) on

I feel as though I documented the production process very well, with both the vlogs and all of the photos. I felt as though it was important to see what we were doing and how we were doing it. I also really enjoy taking photos/editing so it was a nice thing to do. I also enjoyed making the video as our group got on really well and had fun - it didn't feel tedious at all.

Feedback from Cinema Screening

Hello!

On the 9th December everyone's videos were shown at the Screen on the Green, a cinema in Islington. We were shown first. We really enjoyed watching other people's videos and were very impressed as everyone's work was of a very high standard.
